MATERIALS
Of course it is up to each participant to compose his own equipment according to personal preferences. For some just a pencil and a pad will be enough, while others like to add some colour to the sketch.
My recommendations are either a pencil, ball point pen or waterproof fineliner for sketches and outlines, as well as watercolours for adding some colors to accentuate the sketch. Watercolour paper should be a 300gr quality.
Please do not forget sunglasses and adequate clothing.
Remember:
One good pen/brush and a few high quality watercolours are way better than many cheap ones. They easily spoil the fun!
LOCATIONS
Islay offers plenty of subjects, varying from landscape to villages, ruins, churches. There are woods and of course beaches.
Getting to certain spots might involve some walking over slippery grass or in rocky and sandy environment.
The weather in Scotland intends to be kind of moody. If weather conditions won't allow to work outside the course may have to be cancelled or postponed.
Still, the idea is to be creative outdoors, while exploring the island. Dressing accordingly and considering the extra layer will make the event a much more enjoyable experience.
